Well so far I've read about 200 pages of my book so I guess I'm due for another post. So, here it is.
This book was given to me to read by my Uncle about two weeks ago. This would be my first time reading it and he said that I would like it. He was right. So about my uncle. His name is Matthew Waldman. He is in his early 40's and like David Sedaris, he is Homosexual. His life and David's could, I guess be easily comparable.
For one they both had older siblings, but that's not really important. What is important, I guess is how they have been treated throughout there lifes. My Uncle was, still is, and forever will be a nerd. David wasn't exactly popular. In one essay if the book, a rock was thrown at him by a popular boy and the only people who stuck up for him, was his parents. (Or is it "'were' his parents"?) They also had a brother that was more "Manly" then they were.
Now, skipping a few years into the future, both my grandparents and David's father never accepted their son's Homosexuality. My uncle ran away from home while David got kicked out.
Also like David's relationship with his siblings, my uncle, dad and grandparent's relationships are awkward. Unlike David's family though, sometimes I am unsure if my grandparents love my uncle.
Well, those are really all the comparisons I can really make so far with my knowlage of the book and my uncle's life. I do know why he picked this book to read in the first place and I do enjoy reading it.
Oh, and because someone might ask, I don't know if I am gay. I might be, I might not be or I might be "bi-". I'm not sure and ethier way I wouldn't really care.
